A Little Sun Goes a Long Way

I don’t take for granted that my parents live in a neighborhood with a big loop for walking. Growing up, we lived on a pretty busy street, so outside of strolling around the driveway, we couldn’t just up and walk out the door for a mile stroll. We took the dogs for a loop today. It was beautiful out – for March – and the only non perfectness on our walk came from the melting snow that caused some dirt to splay up onto our calves. Even the dogs mildly behaved.

“Clare, there are people sunning!” My mom said to me. Perplexed, I looked around, and to my surprise, saw two heads peacefully laying outside on their deck. They were being hit perfectly by the sun. It truly looked lovely and made me long for the summer. For someone to lay outside in 50 degree weather, you’re either desperate or at peace with life. I think I’ll go with the latter, and compliment them on living for the little moments.

Later on, as we were waiting for a pickleball court, I laid down on the pavement, also soaking up the sun. Julia laid down next to me, and we were surprised by how nice it was.

“It’s like a morning at the beach, honestly,” Julia remarked. “A little brisk, but really lovely.” Couldn’t argue with that.

So, today’s slice is a shoutout to the sunners this morning who reminded me to live life for the little moments.

About Me

Welcome! I’ve decided to join in the fun this year and try my hand at writing a little something every day for the month of March. HOPEFULLY, it’ll instill a pattern and I’ll continue on.

I am currently living in New York City and excited to share daily moments inspired by NYC!
